Struggles of a Nigerian voiceover artist

I had a voiceover job to deliver this weekend. The client wanted it yesterday, but I had a constraint.  The church 💒 next door was having a programme and I could hear every single thing in my room, thanks to the mic 🎤 and amplifier. Then, I began thinking to myself. Why do some churches with a handful of members need to have mics that are turned on sooooooo loud? I mean, even without the mics, every member would hear whoever is speaking clearly. I know this because when their gen goes off, I'm able to pick what is being said. This morning, I was pondering over it again and remembered the story of how a man who was in a hotel where he could hear the ongoing service of a church that had roofing issues with their tent, looked out of his window and saw the church, and has became part of the history and story of the church (I think he contributed to fixing the tent or so...anyway, he's mentioned from time to time).  Note, what he heard caught his attention, and the church wasn...

Unexpected Morning Drama: Suspected thief apprehended on my street

A suspected thief was apprehended on my street this morning. Picture of man being handcuffed/ Source: Pexels I was doing my routine workout when I started hearing unusual sounds outside. Unusual because it sounded like someone being beaten. Then I heard a man narrating how his shop was broken into, and he was saying the apprehended suspect deserves the beating he was getting.  “Na so children wey no dey work anything dey shine pass adults wey dey suffer,” he said bitterly. “I dey see this boy dey waka up and down this street every time and him no dey carry any bag to show say him dey go work or hustle,” he continued. He talked about how the neighbouring community had banished him, probably for similar offences, and this community where he stays now didn’t prevent him from living there. “I been talk am say how we sure say him no go repeat the same thing here?” Then I started hearing other voices.
